“Never again.”

After spending an entire day exploring the area, we got back at 8:15 pm only to find the kitchen closed, even though people were still eating. The takeaway fish‑and‑chip shop and kebab house were also shut, so we left without hot food. The night before, the lovely landlady had whipped up something hot for us, which made the difference. On top of that, there was no heating in the room and no hot water for a shower. A refund would be appropriate.

“Economy Stay in a Great Location.”

The location is great and the price unbeatable, but the place is pretty basic and a bit rough around the edges, though still very good value and reasonably comfortable. The Wi‑Fi that’s included is unusable. Pub food scores a 3 and the nearby café owned by the same operator is a 4, though it looked decent and I did eat there. Overall, I’m quite happy with our stay.

“Would come again but not pay for an ‘upgrade’ to room 3”

The hotel is close to the showground and the staff and food are excellent, but it’s very noisy—especially above the men’s toilets where you can hear conversations 😱—and the Wi‑Fi password didn’t work.

“Budget stay”

The bed is comfortable, the room is generally clean, and the location is in the town centre. However, the “budget” room we booked could use improvements. It sits on a roadside, so heavy traffic makes it noisy early in the morning and opening the windows for fresh air is difficult; a fan would help. The bathroom feels like a public convenience—white tiles, basic fixtures, and a rusting sink plug—so an update or makeover is needed.
