“Passez votre chemin !”
When I first got in touch, the hotel told me they couldn't provide a free shuttle from the port and offered a paid taxi instead, which I declined. They tried again, even though a relative of the owners runs that taxi company, and I still said no. I asked for the exact address, but got no reply until I finally found the place. The owner greeted me in Greek, called me by my first name, and handed me a room. That evening I noticed a leaking bathroom sink, creating a large puddle, and I had to put a trash bag underneath it. Later, when I went to bed, the bed was infested with ants; I removed them, but throughout the night ants kept appearing on my face and hair. A loud alarm box in the room would start screaming and flashing violently several times during the night. In the morning I explained everything to the owner, who said she didn’t know what to do and wasn’t responsible for the alarm issue. I suggested she contact the company that handles it (there are signs around the hotel). I asked for a room change; she said a better room was available but would be less comfortable, and offered to use a strong insecticide instead of moving me. I refused because I didn’t want to breathe polluted air. After some back‑and‑forth, she finally agreed to give me another room and asked me to pack all my belongings and bring them to the reception.
