“Nice Pub Atmosphere but Disappointing Food”
We stayed at the Woodstock Arms last year and were very keen to return; it has a great location but the parking was very complicated and nobody seemed able to tell us exactly how it worked. The room was in the eaves and it was so hot; they provided a fan and I understand that the UK was experiencing a heatwave but it was a little difficult to sleep. However, it has a lovely traditional English Pub feel. Our evening meal was very disappointing: I asked for my fish to be filleted and they said it wasn't possible, nor was it possible to omit cream from a Moules Mariner sauce. We asked to speak to the Manager and the Sous Chef spoke to us and said that yes, it was possible; however, they filleted the fish first, then cooked it which meant it was very dry. There is very little light in the upstairs landing and as the stairs are old and narrow it is quite dangerous.
