I landed right in the middle of St Ives, and the owner was just leaving with her dog, so we could drop our luggage off. It’s basically a self‑check‑in place with no front desk; you get a key in a small locked box outside the door, plus a code and instructions sent to you. The accommodation only has three rooms, and breakfast is no longer offered, but the room has tea, coffee, and some tasty biscuits, and the “reception” area holds a jar of flapjacks and fruit. The room itself is beautifully decorated, though the low ceiling and exposed beams give it a slightly cramped feel. We stayed on the top floor, and the photos matched the room well. The only real issue was the stairs – I had just hurt my knee, so that added to the difficulty. The stairs to the rooms are extremely narrow, and you have to carry your handbag-sized bag either in front or behind you. It’s a bit pricey compared to other places we stayed in Cornwall, but St Ives is known for being a bit more expensive.
