I thought it was a standard accommodation, but it turned out to be a pension, not a hotel, and the name misleads people.

“We stayed one night it was comfortable, despite the confusion at book in. The electrical issue was an inconvenience.”

The place sits just outside the old town, in a newly built district, and walking through the new shopping mall to the old, odd area was easy; the staff were friendly and helpful after the initial mix‑up, and the location was convenient to the bus station. However, the address listed on the booking didn't match the actual hotel location; we arrived at the Star hotel as shown, only to be told to wait for a car to take us to the Star Mansion where our rooms actually were, which was confusing. The Star Mansion photos were accurate. In one room the ceiling light was broken and we were told it was an electrical issue, while in the other room there was hair and a bandage in the shower drain.

The room was roomy and comfortable, but when we entered we found puddles of water at the doorway and in the bathroom, which was odd. The staff were very kind and helpful, and they guided us to the hotel after we struggled to locate it because there were no signs with the hotel name. The hotel sits in a great spot overlooking the Diyarbekir wall, and you can walk to most places in the old city and drive a short distance to the cafés on the Tigris. The bathroom sink leaked all over the floor when used, turning a quick hand wash into a water show.

The room was clean, the staff were good, and it offered good value for money. The address on the booking was incorrect; the actual address belongs to a different hotel with the same name, and the real hotel is far from the city center with nothing nearby. The closest address is Kaya Bahçe, Hasırlı, Bardakçı 2. Sk. No:6, 21200 Sur/Diyarbakır, Türkiye.
