Unique location!
Everything you need was in the room and it was close to the station. The photo of the room looked more spacious, and the staircase was very inconvenient. The host was friendly, but the video check‑in instructions sent via WhatsApp were awkward if you’re traveling with roaming. Spending time on the boat was uncomfortable, and the windows of another boat faced directly at you, making it hard for people to relax when you talk.
The location and view were the best thing about the houseboat. Access was a little tricky, but that has to be expected when you are staying on a boat

“Amsterdam is NOT a clean city, and the area around the accommodation was filthy, lots of rubbish!”
The house room was quirky, but it wasn’t a houseboat—it was just a room! Getting into bed was difficult because of walls on either side, and it was very dark inside. A toaster would have helped. When I tried to use the plates, they were wet. The rechargeable light in the bathroom and lounge didn’t work, and the heating was out. We’re fit and able in our 70s, but moving around was tough.
