Staying in that ancient tulou was a real treat. Stephen, the owner, speaks English and is super handy when you want to go off the beaten path. The food his mom cooks is delicious, and winding down in the courtyard at night for drinks and a hearty meal is a real highlight.

Stephen runs everything himself—from breakfast to dinner, both spot on. He even handled our pick‑up from Xiamen airport and arranged a two‑day private car tour of the area. The tulou stay was a unique experience that felt like a home away from home.

The tulou stay was amazing—cool place for a few days. The spot’s great, within walking distance of other tulous, all worth checking out. Food was fantastic, and the tour Stephen set up was exactly what we wanted. Can't think of anything we didn't like.

The host was very friendly and even said a few German phrases, but otherwise we chatted in English. We booked three rooms for a small group and were all happy with the service. Three meals a day, times flexible to fit our schedule, and the mother cooked—choose tofu, veg, meat, whatever you like, and the portions were generous, served on multiple plates like in China. Coffee and toast were available in the morning, and the rooms were simple but clean and comfy.

Wonderful experience—Stephen is friendly and welcoming, and his mom made a very good dinner. The village was beautiful, and we got to explore it early in the morning with no crowds.
