Guests enjoy a sun terrace, garden, bar, free on‑site parking, dining area, outdoor seating, and bicycle parking. Daily buffet breakfast features local specialties, pastries, cheese, fruit, and juice. Nearby Gaasterland Golfclub, ’t Zwaantje, and Stavoren Station.

We only had breakfast once. Afterwards we didn’t know where to go inside the hotel or across from it, but that wasn’t a big deal because we were leaving early. We didn’t see anyone at all – that’s a shame.

The facilities: in the cozy common area you can read a newspaper or play a game. You have plenty of freedom to move around.

The room was clean and the information on the room was good. When we arrived, no one was at the reception. A note at the desk (how to reach someone from reception) would have been very welcoming. The room number on a strip of Hansaplast looks very shabby. There’s little atmosphere in the room. The bathroom lighting can’t be adjusted. In the night the light is very bright when you visit the bathroom and stays on for a long time. There’s no place for your toiletry bag in the bathroom.

The beds were wonderful! The common area is also great, with plenty of drink options, games, coloring books, everything is thought out.

The hotel is beautifully located in Rijs, directly opposite the Rijsterbos. Stavoren and the IJsselmeer are not far from Het Elfsteden Huis. Rooms are very tidy, with a kitchenette and a small sitting area. Good beds – very comfortable – and excellent blackout. The common lounge offers relaxation and games, and for a very reasonable fee you can get fresh, alcoholic and distilled drinks. Coffee and tea are complimentary. Parking is excellent: there is ample space. The Elfstedenhuis offers breakfast service via the adjacent Bistro Rijsterbosch. Although there is a very friendly waitress and owner who waves the sign and the basics for breakfast are on the bar, the breakfast fell short in price/quality. Juice comes in a pack, no egg (or you can ask for one). You had to pay in cash even though a card machine was available. Next time we’d rather avoid that location.
