“Disappointed stay”

The spot was great, and the view from the pub over the lake was amazing, but the room was just okay. Sunday lunch was terrible—gravy tasted like warm water and portions were tiny. The staff never asked if the food was okay or how our stay was going. When I ordered drinks and paid with my card, the screen asked if I wanted to tip for the drinks, but nothing else. I was unhappy that the room was across the road; the bathroom smelled of drugs when the air‑con was on. Parking was awful—there should be a one‑way entrance and a different exit, and there weren’t enough spaces.

“Great location to explore Ambleside and lakes.”

A small annex away from the main hotel, quiet with great views and gardens, and breakfast was good; the restaurant was often crowded and busy in the evenings, so booking is essential even midweek.

“Even though has great potential, we felt there wasn’t a good value for money.”

The location was great and the garden was nice, and the rooms were spacious, but they were old‑fashioned. The closet had dust on the shelves, and there was no AC on hot days; only one small desk fan was offered for a room with three guests.
