Under Canvas Mount Rushmore

“I would rather camp than stay at this place.”

They claim to be a 5‑star venue but honestly would struggle for two stars. We liked very little, maybe the s'mores. No service—had to wait 30 minutes to check in. When we asked for a room clean because my husband was ill and needed to nap in the afternoon, they didn’t do it. The linens, pillows, and towels were awful. The umbrella chairs looked nice but were uncomfortable. There was no soap in the room. They preach eco‑friendly practices, yet the canvas in the lobby is clearly coated with something that gives off a terrible odor.

“First time glamping for us was a fun experience”

The layout was solid and the facilities were nice, especially the tent with its shower and toilet. Service felt a bit slack; the shower lacked shampoo and body gel, and when I asked for fresh towels, they promised but never delivered. They might have been busy with the season ending in two weeks.

The setting was unique and the location was great. Everything else was perfect!

I enjoyed being in nature and feeling undisturbed, plus the views were amazing. It was storming when I arrived, and the stargazing tent was a fantastic experience even in the rain, thunder, and lightning. A mouse appeared in my toilet at 2:30 am—unsure how it got in since the lid was closed. The next morning, I went to brush my teeth, only to find the water wasn’t working; I ended up with toothpaste in my mouth. A heads‑up that the water was being fixed would have been helpful.

It was only 10 minutes from Mount Rushmore. Free s’mores in the evening. The food wasn’t bad either . The hotel staff was nice and accommodating for anything you needed . Peaceful evening in the trees and star gazing and a perfect view of Mount Rushmore off in the distance
