La Joya Hostel Chafchaouen Cozy Stay with Terrace

The place was quiet. The reception was bad; the phone number sent by email to call and confirm the reservation had no answer after several attempts, same with email. When I arrived I tried to understand and the receptionist was rude, speaking Arabic. On the day of check‑out he asked for payment because there was an online payment issue, so we had to pay cash; at departure he told us we hadn't paid, the bank is right next door. Initially he said it was 350, I gave him 400 dh and he took 378 dh.

The rooms were very clean and close to everything. Sometimes the shower wasn’t hot enough, but Mr Atif fixed it on site.

I spent three days at this hostel, and it was spot on – the location is easy to reach by car and right next to all the major sights you’d want to visit. The rooms were spotless, and the rooftop view is really beautiful and calming. The staff were always smiling and helpful, and there’s even a kitchen if you want to cook your own meal. With two showers available, you’ll never run out of a fresh shower. All in all, it’s a very good hostel that I’d recommend to my friends.

The place is in a good spot. They called us half an hour before arrival to tell us that the “luxury” room we’d booked was occupied and that we’d have to switch to a shared‑bathroom room for the first night (though they did give us a 5€ discount). The next day they moved us to what was supposedly the luxury room, but it faced the entrance hall where they were always making noise, and they claimed there were mountain views, yet the view was actually the laundry room where people were sometimes there, so they could see us. The shower was a corner alcove, and while showering water would fall into the toilet because it was too small. They said we could pay with card, but when we arrived they told us we couldn’t.
