“Value for money but needs some improvements”
It’s a family guest house with many rooms on various levels overlooking an inner yard/garden. The birds the family keeps in the yard are very peaceful. The hosts speak English, which is a plus, though it would be nice if they offered more city information without us having to ask. Our room was on the 1st/2nd level (depending on how you count it). You always had to close the curtains because right outside was a veranda with tables and chairs for all guests. The room itself was clean but definitely needs renovation soon, especially the bathroom and furniture. The beds looked new, but everything else needs to be replaced ASAP. A major plus was the constant tea downstairs in the common area, plus snacks and fruit. Breakfast was good and varied each day. The location is only a few minutes’ walk to Registan Square. If you have mobility issues, this guest house may not suit you. The staircase to our room had very large steps that were hard to navigate. On our last day, we told the owner we would leave at 2 am because our flight was at 5 am and asked for a receipt of the money we had paid him; he said he would give it later that evening. We didn’t go out, and when we left he was asleep. He could have easily slipped it under our door, but he didn’t, so we never got it, which was disappointing. When you get paid, you need to give a receipt that you took the money—that’s the proper way to run your establishment.
