Hotel Zum Zeppelin Hamburg

The location is convenient, especially for travelers flying from Hamburg Airport, and there’s a shop nearby. The apartment was reasonably clean, with all beds, bedding and pillows clean and comfortable. We appreciated that there were proper beds for everyone, including the children, instead of sofa beds. The staff were friendly and polite, though we had to wait a long time at reception. For a one‑night stay before an early flight, the hotel can be acceptable. The hotel is much older and more worn out than the photos suggest, giving the impression it may have once been lovely but now needs serious renovation. The hotel consists of three separate buildings, and our apartment was across the main road, away from the reception and restaurant, which was confusing and inconvenient at first. The entrance door to our building was damaged and wouldn’t close properly, raising security concerns. There was an unpleasant smell in the common areas. Although the apartment was reasonably clean, the furniture and overall atmosphere felt very outdated and depressing. Another detail not clear from the room description was that the apartment was split over two levels, with the children’s beds upstairs via an extremely steep staircase; this wasn’t a problem for us, but it should be mentioned so guests know what to expect. The internet connection was extremely poor: the Wi‑Fi signal in our building was almost nonexistent, and even mobile data barely worked. We received an email offering online check‑in and digital room access, but the system did not work as expected. In the end, we had to go through reception to get a physical key card, causing unnecessary delays. We don’t know what caused the issue, but the process was frustrating rather than convenient. We have stayed in many hotels in Germany, and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing experiences. Despite the comfortable beds, I found it difficult to relax because of the overall condition of the building and apartment. For a single night, it may be manageable, but future guests should be aware of what to expect. The reality is quite different from the impression given by the photos.

The entrance to the annex was not visible from the outside, so we had to search for a long time. The main house entrance door was open.

“Eine Nacht vorm Flug (HAM)”

The triple room was nice and big, and my kids and I were ready to fly from Hamburg for vacation. Check‑in was online, and the door could be unlocked with a phone, so everything was perfect if the front desk was closed due to a flight delay. The attached restaurant offered a great menu at fair prices, and breakfast was also excellent. Nothing to complain about.

“Gut geeignet für einen beruflichen Aufenthalt, würde ich immer wieder buchen”

The staff were very friendly and the restaurant served solid, home‑style dishes. The weekday breakfast buffet started at 6 a.m. and was good quality. Parking was free at the hotel. The bathroom in the single room could use a renovation, but otherwise everything worked fine. The room itself had a wardrobe and desk, suitable for a business stay.

“Sonst war alles gut.”

The service was quick and courteous, and the breakfast was good; the location is easy to reach. The downside was that behind room 109 the laundry cart storage was located, and the carts rattle and make noise over and over again; a different solution might help.
