The hotel looks very attractive, with stylish public spaces like the restaurant, bar and garden, yet the management feels youthful and casual, which doesn’t match the claimed five‑star level; it was odd when staff didn’t recognize us after a couple of minutes, making the friendliness seem forced, except for the young lady in service who was genuinely kind and knowledgeable about the restaurant. It was amusing that my husband couldn’t order breakfast while I was still in the room because the chef wanted all guests from the room to be seated before taking the order, a policy that fits the overall picture. I also found it strange that there was no interim receipt for a dinner charged to the room, and at checkout I was told they couldn’t print a bill for me because the printer paper hadn’t arrived yet. The final bill was fine, but the lack of transparency was noticeable. The kitchen and food quality were good and the prices reasonable, given that GB isn’t cheap; the 12 % service charge was expected, though the menu only mentioned it partially because the paper ran out. As for the room (Nr 4), it looked nice at first but is meant for guests with limited mobility, featuring a shower without doors that flooded the bathroom each time, rusted and old grab bars, some wall tiles that were noticeably moldy, and a general dampness that made the duvet covers feel never fully dry. A different room might have left a better impression, so we can’t confirm the glowing reviews many others have posted.

“Consigliato”

The room was clean and comfortable, with plenty of breakfast. The staff were very kind. The attached pub was lovely; we stayed playing and drinking until closing. The shower was huge. Unfortunately UK regulations ban electrical outlets in the bathroom, so the otherwise stunning and spacious bathroom turns out to be inconvenient in some respects.

The spot is truly lovely and the design is clever, while the staff were accommodating and friendly.
