The place was a complete disaster: everything was bad, from the poor maintenance to the filthy rooms. The bed was dirty and left me itchy all over after lying on it, the floor had holes, the door wouldn’t close properly, and the walls were mouldy. Even the toilet had mould and big holes. The picture on the website didn’t match the room at all—it looked like a 10‑year‑old photo. The room itself was basic, with just a bed, an old almost broken chair, and a TV that didn’t work. There were no amenities, and the sofa was old, probably 20 years old.

The balcony offered a nice view, but everything else was disappointing.

The view was beautiful, showing Mount Kinabalu and the cool air made us happy, yet the bathroom stank, smelling like sewage leaking from the toilet, and the sink was uneven so we couldn’t place toothpaste and a toothbrush properly. The bath towels reeked like a damp foot, and the blanket, pillow and mattress cover all smelled like a sick dog – I’m not trying to slander anyone, that’s exactly what we detected. On top of that we woke up with itchy skin that night.
