Arai Ryokan, a registered cultural property, features traditional Japanese architecture and natural hot-spring baths. Located near Shuzenji Temple, the ryokan offers tatami-floored rooms with river or garden views, futon beds, and shoji screens. Two public and one outdoor hot-spring baths, plus private baths, are available. The ryokan is surrounded by a bamboo forest and Niji-no-Sato Theme Park.

Wonderful spot, the experience is beautiful and the place feels magical. The baths are very good and the staff are super attentive. Tattoos visible aren’t allowed, which you have to accept in Japan, but you can buy patches there to cover them and enter the onsens without a hitch. Everything was great.

The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were friendly and welcoming, check‑in was smooth, the property was beautiful, and the food was absolutely fantastic. It made for a wonderful stay, and I’d happily come back again.

The location was good. The meals were tasty, and most of all the maiko’s courteous service was excellent. The yukata sizes were only S, M, L, LL; it would have helped if height was listed.
