Nestled amid tranquil Myoko hills, Kogakuro Onsen Hotel offers airy Japanese-style rooms with large windows, tatami floors, and private toilets. A three‑minute walk leads to Akakura Onsen Ski Resort, while Imori‑ike Pond and JR Myoko Kogen station are short drives away. Traditional breakfasts and dinners complete the experience.

The hosts and staff were excellent, always friendly and ready to help with anything from travel arrangements to train tickets and restaurant bookings. Breakfast was fantastic, the onsen was great, and the big lounge with a fireplace was relaxing. Getting to Akakura Osen/Kanko Ski Resort was easy, and a short 3‑minute walk got you to the bus for other nearby resorts.

The place in Myoko is unbeatable – the staff are the best and the pancakes are the best I’ve ever had, so I’d highly recommend it!

Meiko and her team were fantastic and made us feel like family; breakfast every day was great, though the board storage could have been better and dinner was just average.

The ski lift is close and offers night skiing, the bed and room heating were excellent in winter, breakfast spread and stations were great and tasty, the host was very helpful and easy to talk to in English, the staff were all friendly and made us feel at home – 10/10 and I’ll stay again. The onsen pool could be cleaned more thoroughly; I see a lot of dead skin floating around, maybe because I always enter the onsen later at night, but it still helped with muscle aches and was hot enough for a very rejuvenating soak every night.
