Its setting, staff, and proximity to hiking trails make it perfect for travelers.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and we kept in touch via WhatsApp. Checking in early was smooth. The place is quiet and a bit off Calle Caracoles, but only about 10 minutes on foot to the centre. From the room you can even see the volcano. The shared kitchen comes with a fridge, stove, microwave and kettle – handy for those who cook themselves. The room was warmer than I expected, even though there’s no heating; the blankets kept me warm enough at night. Hot water was generally available. On the downside, the shower boiler sometimes needs to be turned on first, so after a night out you have to call for it and wait a few minutes for hot water. There’s no hot water at the sink or in the kitchen. At night the water was sometimes shut off completely, so I couldn’t brush my teeth or wash my hands. The construction is simple; the metal roof lets wind noises through. When I arrived I had to ring the bell several times and wait 5–10 minutes for someone to open the door. The accommodation is on a small side street that isn’t lit at night – not a safety issue for me. The tour vans can’t drive right up to the property, so you have to walk a bit from the main road with luggage, which was a bit annoying. The biggest drawback was the bed; after four nights I had hip pain.

The staff were attentive, the location was great, and the aesthetic was pleasing. There was a leak, but they helped clean it. One shower had low pressure and a thin stream of water.

The surroundings were quite calm, and it’s a 10‑minute walk from the main street.

Simple and comfortable. Very well cleaned. The housekeepers come every two days to change sheets, towels and clean the rooms. The staff are polite and welcoming.
