“Bezahlbare Unterkunft, wenig Rückzugsmöglichkeit, in guter Lage, aber auf Zusatzkosten achten”
The hosts were very hospitable, but a bit intrusive. The price for Masai Mara was okay, but like all accommodations in the area it was overpriced. The location near Sekenani Gate is perfect for safaris that start early in the morning. Lunch packages and dinner are offered, but be sure to clarify the price beforehand (20 USD per person). The accommodation does not match the description or the pictures at all. The photos are borrowed from other (luxury) camps. In reality we are in the fenced "Rhino Hills" compound inside a Masai village. We booked two rooms. It was confirmed on request that we needed them (even though the room description said there would be two double beds in one room). In the end we were placed in a communal tent with 4 beds. The operators seem nice and helpful, but it feels like you can't move around alone. We were accompanied in our own rental car on every trip. So after the safari we couldn't go to a restaurant for dinner because the family head David had already received us at Sekenani Gate. Because of the lack of privacy, our daughters (18 and 13) felt uncomfortable in some places. Some offers (all with unknown additional costs) we had to decline multiple times, e.g. Nature Walk, visiting a Masai village, Sundowner, etc. Another guest told us: "Don't let them squeeze you." The previously agreed costs turned out to be different later (= higher). We ordered 4 lunch packages for 20 USD, then found out they charged 20 USD per person. The quality and quantity of the food do not justify that price at all.
