Plateau Lodge is situated 15 minutes from UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park. The lodge offers rooms with shared or private bathrooms, Smart TVs, and some with fully equipped kitchens. A daily shuttle service runs hourly to the Tongariro Crossing. Amenities include free parking, guest laundry, breakfast trays, lunch packs, and a tour desk for local recommendations and travel arrangements.

The accommodation sits in a prime spot for exploring Tongariro National Park, with the free‑bookable Tongariro Crossing Shuttle departing right outside the door (highly recommended). For hikes, the lodge is very convenient. Kids have plenty of toys and a cool trampoline. Nearby, a food truck and a few local spots make it easy to grab a quick bite. One small drawback: the place could use a bit more cleaning.

The location was great and it was easy to reach the snow. The room, bathroom, and bed were all good. We could hear all the neighbors through the walls, and there were a lot of kids being noisy early in the morning.

Very clean and comfy beds, plus a great location. I booked a two‑bedroom unit, but the double bedroom was on the smaller side and I had to shift the bed to close the door.

A warm greeting from the managers and staff set the tone, though the room was smaller than I expected, it sufficed for a few nights. The bathrooms were spotless and the showers were both pleasant and hot, and the wood fire in the lounge added a cozy touch. The drying room left my ski gear still damp, but the on‑site dryer managed to dry my gloves for the next day.
