The beach location was great, but the cleanliness was nonexistent, the mattress was black, floor pieces kept falling off, dust webs were trapped in the door grilles, the shower water smelled awful, and the toilet leaked onto the floor. I’m usually adaptable, yet for 35 € a night in Malaysia I found much better options; this room should have cost no more than 8 € a night.

Less than a minute to the beach, the staff were very nice and always smiling, and it’s close to the best restaurant in Coral Bay (Amelia’s) and the snorkeling services. It’s the cheapest option you’ll find in Coral Bay. The fan worked well and our belongings stayed safe the whole trip. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean, making it suitable only for budget travelers. However, it’s a very simple cabin with many holes and openings that let bugs in (mosquitoes, geckos, ants, etc). The WC was a mess – super dirty, no toilet paper, just a bucket and a hose to clean yourself. The shower water was cold, but that’s not a problem because it’s always hot. The cabin was very hot all day, but the fan was a lifesaver. They provided a mosquito net for the bed, but it had holes so it was almost useless. We sprayed ourselves with mosquito spray and it seemed to work…however, my partner got clear bed bug bites from his abdomen to his arm to his hand – a clear pattern of multiple bites can only mean bed bugs. The mattress was clearly very old and under it was super dirty. If you can’t handle this, choose another accommodation. I recommend Long Beach because the beach is nicer than in Coral Bay, and there are cheap options. The only plus is that you can watch the sunset on this side.
