I stayed in a pretty nice room for the area, but the floor was a bit dirty, the shower head had no pressure, and the towels felt more like facial tissue, so I had to call down for proper ones.

The evening staff were excellent, the bar stayed open late and chatting with the barman made the night. The hiker box for thru‑hikers and the reasonable sitting areas let us meet strangers. Breakfast fell short of the great service we’d had all night; orders got mixed up or taken away too early, and the room’s fireplace lacked fire‑starting supplies, though we might have asked for them and just missed it.
