Leuven City Hostel sits 700 m from the Central Market Square, offering a garden terrace, on‑site bar, and communal living area with a fireplace. Rooms have laminate flooring, bunk beds and work desks; guests share an equipped kitchen and free Wi‑Fi. Nearby cafés, restaurants, and the Old Square are a short bike ride away; the train station is an 8‑minute walk.

I met friendly staff and a functional room, but the entrance was confusing and the hostel name at the door didn’t match the one we had booked.

The location right in Leuven was great, with a bike rack, shared kitchen and lounge, and the breakfast offered soy milk and gluten‑free items; the front‑desk hosts were very cheerful. However, the common sink was clogged and filled with stagnant water, the hallway and street noise persisted late into the night, there was no towel rack in the room, and the toilet and shower were outside the room; the room itself was cramped, only two beds and a coat rack.

I was in Leuven for a work trip and needed a place close to the university, so this spot was a solid price‑to‑value pick. The private room was comfy, even had a little tub, and the shared bathrooms were spotless—no waiting at all. Staff were friendly, letting me check in early and drop off my bags after I left. The only downside was the heat; the heavy duvets were a bit much, so summer sheets would help.

Nice spot, close to everything, and the receptionist was very friendly. The lounge was decent. But the four‑person room was cramped, and the bathroom was off‑site on the second floor, which was a hassle.
