Excellent property. Mrs. Elisabetta was extremely kind and helpful in everything. An host who deserves the highest score in every respect. We will definitely return. We fell in love with Matera, and Locus Amoenus is the worthy accommodation for an artistic and cultural heritage unique in the world.

You stay in an 8000‑year‑old cave that’s clean, sweet, and smack‑in‑the‑middle of town; the owner is super sweet and friendly, whipping up a classic local breakfast every morning, helping with anything right away, and treating guests with genuine kindness. As soon as you step outside the door you’re in the heart of Matera’s old town, with all the nice spots just a few minutes away. One day we even saw a big Catholic fireworks display right in front of our apartment.

The suite is in the center, very convenient for moving around, and the room in the Sassi is beautiful.
