“very picturesque location”

The location is very picturesque and very quiet, yet close enough to town for taxis and other services. We checked in on a Sunday and no staff were on hand, so everything was handled by phone.

“Clean comfortable rooms”

It’s central to Whaley. The rooms lack TVs and hairdryers.

The staff gave a great welcome and the bed was comfortable. The room was cozy and the building is beautiful. Unfortunately, a lot of leaves had blown into the room and into the shower tray.

“Disappointed, would not stay again.”

The spot was quiet and private, close to local eateries and key sights for our visit, but the PIN code was wrong, staff communication was poor, Wi‑Fi and TV didn’t work, the mattress had stains, the quilt was dirty, pillows were low quality, and the advertised outdoor seating was missing.

“Marvellous building and grounds. No hesitation in recommending Whalley Abbey.”

Extremely friendly host, spacious bedroom, privacy, excellent views from our room. Public rooms and stunning, and very useful honesty box with fridge and snacks. Home from home. not a dislike, but some may consider some of the room facilities dated, but we actually appreciate that that is actually what builings such as this are quite often like
