Bay Motel

I wasn’t very impressed.

“Great location but will not stay here again.”

The spot was terrific—right on the beach and close to everything. However, it was super noisy; the motel’s back lane is full of restaurants, so it’s very busy, and garbage trucks came every morning from about 5 am, several times a day. The rooms weren’t quiet; even with the windows closed, the noise was like all windows were open, so the seals must be poor. The published photos are deceiving and a bit cheeky: they show the room looking generous and lovely, but in reality it’s not quite that. The lighting, staging, and angles make it look more appealing and spacious than it really is. The room was so noisy that we could hear people talking all night and even hear those next to us. It wasn’t pleasant.

The location was incredible, the rooms were spotless, and the staff were welcoming, eager to help, and went above and beyond. The only downside was that it’s in a nightlife precinct, so it was noisy, but that didn’t bother me. The only thing I could fault is that there’s no laundry on site, so check for a nearby laundromat if that matters.

“Byron CBD.”

The motel sits just a door from the Beach Hotel and across the road from the beach, so it’s the closest CBD location. It’s been renovated since my last stay, offers secure car parking, and is great value in Byron Bay where most prices are insane. The only drawback is that because you’re near restaurants, early‑morning bin emptying is the price you pay; it’s not the motel’s fault. Either roll over or go for a sunrise swim.

“Péssima estadia”

The location was good, but practically everything was bad: the room was dirty, noisy, uncomfortable.
