Hotel Borgo Del Mare, a boutique hotel, is situated 100 meters from the sea. The hotel offers transfers to Civitavecchia Harbour and a restaurant serving traditional pizzas and Italian ice cream. Air-conditioned, non-smoking rooms feature free Wi-Fi, LCD TVs, and sea views from upper floors. A buffet breakfast with freshly baked bread is served, and parking is available. Trains to Rome depart from nearby Civitavecchia Station.

We booked a single night before our cruise; the spot was convenient but the rooms were worn and not very clean, and breakfast was subpar.

It’s an old family restaurant trying to survive; they ran out of potatoes for dinner and there were cobwebs on the chair legs. Dust covered the curtains and bedspread, the breakfast fruit juice containers looked dark at the edges, eggs were drenched in water, and the toasters were black. The people were friendly and drinks generous, but comfort was lacking: the mattress sat on slats and was about the same width as a mobile phone—no cushioning at all.
