“Giantic room and comfortable bed in a silent street!! :)”
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Pilgrim Hotel; Mahesh was very welcoming, the room was gigantic with a super‑large bed, comfortable mattress and pillows, and an amazing shower with very hot water. The TV was not working, and the cleanliness of the floor and linens could definitely be improved to match the overall standard of the room. Reaching the location by Uber is not easy, but it is quite manageable by tuk‑tuk, and Mahesh can arrange that for you. The hotel is conveniently close to the Golden Temple, and a major plus is that it is located on a dead‑end street, meaning there is no traffic from cars, motorcycles, or tuk‑tuks, and none of the annoying, constant honking typical in India. The only unpleasant experience was when the owner’s son banged loudly on our door at 5:30 a.m., which gave us quite a fright; we were told he was just a child who had mistaken the room, but he pushed against the door with such force and banged it that it caused me a great deal of stress. I went to the front desk right after it and all the staff were asleep; one of them came to help me and told me that the security camera footage would show who was responsible—the main hotel entrance was locked and everything else was peaceful, so surely it came from someone already inside the hotel. I’m not sure if it was a prank by another guest, but it was a tremendous shock. The next morning the hotel owner mentioned that his son, a child, had confused the room door. That said, it was an isolated incident, and the rest of our stay was perfect—I still recommend this hotel! :)
