The place was clean and the staff were friendly. The only downside was that the station was far away.
It was convenient that the dinner venue was nearby and they handled our luggage storage very politely, but sharing a single bed between two people made it feel cramped and we’d like to see more twin rooms available.
The hotel sits in a part of town with very little infrastructure. If you come by train and want to cycle the next day on the Shimanami Kando, the hotel is out of the way. Also, unlike other Japanese hotels, this place didn’t offer complimentary coffee. We got to the front desk at 14:40 and were told to wait until 15:00 for check‑in – that’s the policy. The staff member who finally checked us in couldn’t finish the process on his own and needed help from another employee. It felt like a double standard – I’m fine with waiting my turn, but I expected a smooth, vanilla check‑in without the staff struggling. In short, the price you pay doesn’t match what you receive.
