The staff were friendly and welcoming, the location is excellent, and the rooms feature antique décor, a clean interior, and a balcony overlooking the Arab fort.

The hotel is close to the main landmarks of the city and you can walk to see the best sights of Stone Town; the Wi‑Fi is good, and many restaurants and bars are nearby. The building sits just in front of the Old Fort. The breakfast is quite basic with limited options, although the fruit and coffee were very tasty.

The rooms are large and the location is excellent. We stayed in two rooms; one was fine, but the other had a horrible shower—stained, unclean, with water that didn’t drain, and the shower head sprayed directly into the window. It was one of the worst showers I’ve ever had, even worse than those at some campgrounds.
