The location, staff, friendliness, and the whole idea of turning a prison into a hotel/hostel are commendable—bravo! The negatives: no air conditioning, no heating control, no TV, and the room’s cleanliness and odors could be better.

“Loved it.”

I was thrilled with this place; I didn't stay in a dorm, but my private bunk was comfy, clean, and basic. The staff were friendly and helpful, everything functioned smoothly, and the spot is great—just on the edge of the town centre and fifteen minutes from the station. The novelty of staying in a former prison was a bonus for me. I do wonder if the toilets, showers, and especially the tiny guests’ kitchen would hold up when the hostel is full; I had no issues, but it didn’t feel very busy when I was there.

“Spannende Unterkunft im alten Gefängnis Leeuwarden”

The reception was very friendly and helped us immediately with any questions. At Alibi Hostel, sleeping in the old prison cells was very comfortable. The showers and toilets on the hallway are clean. We will definitely come back! Nothing negative.

Breakfast was better than expected. The room was quiet with few distractions. It was an interesting experience staying in an old prison, and the staff were friendly and nice. The toilet could have been cleaner, the Wi‑Fi better, and part of the stay had no connection; only the false fire alarm kept going for a while.
