“Value ok for one night only, don't bother with breakfast!”

The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but there was no plug socket near the mirror for hair drying and no bottled water in the room. Breakfast was appalling and certainly not worth £10; the coffee machine was the only option, so we had to queue, which was very slow.

“The staff was lovely but I wouldn’t be going again”

The property itself was really nice, but the food was horrible. The chef clearly doesn’t know how to cook a steak: I ordered a well‑done steak and it was red in the middle, then I received another steak that was burnt; I didn’t get my mushroom back, my gilled tomato was cold, and my chips were cold too. They wouldn’t even refund my husband for the meal, only for drinks.

“Overall good”

The value for money was solid, but the breakfast ingredients were poor.

“Exhausting having to cope with the stairs to get to our very hot room”

I spotted a nice, new, clean place with plenty of parking, and the housekeeping lady named Stephanie was the only helpful staff member who helped me out of an awkward situation. The rest of the staff were very unhelpful, and there were far too many stairs to reach our room; when I asked to change to a more accessible room she said she was too busy, but other staff members told me the hotel was quiet and lied to me! The music was far too loud to be relaxing, rooms on the top floor were stuffy and hot with windows that hardly opened, meals were basic, not a lot of choice, and expensive (pub meals, not restaurant meals as you would expect from a hotel like this).

The location was great, just a stone’s throw from free parking, and the breakfast offered a pleasant variety; the staff were friendly and very helpful. The bathroom could have been cleaner – it needed bleach and had a smell.
