I usually stay at Pura Vida, but this time I booked a single room and it was awful. The moment I opened the door, a strong cigarette odor hit me, and it was also in the bathroom. I asked for a different room, yet the receptionist said none were available; later I heard another staff member say he could swap a double for a single, so a room existed but not for me. The bathroom is terrible: you can’t sit on the toilet because it’s too low and you have to reach for the toilet paper, which is out of reach. The shower is fixed and can’t be adjusted, forcing you to do gymnastics to rinse off soap. When I asked for a TV remote, they told me the TV was broken, never mentioning it at check‑in. I’ve always left good reviews for this place, but single rooms are a disappointment. I’ll never book a single room here again.
