The staff were adorable, treating us like family from the moment we arrived. The meals were excellent and they could tailor menus to our dietary preferences. If you’re after an off‑the‑beaten‑path, local experience, I strongly recommend staying at the pension. In summer there are plenty of hikes and villages to explore. It was really clean—like a real Sky chalet in the Alps. The shared bathrooms were fine, everything was tidy and quiet, and there weren’t many visitors at once.

The pension is very clean! If you want to feel truly Japanese style, you must stay here. A friendly host ready to help anytime. The typical Japanese bath was a new experience. Highly recommended!

The family running this place are absolutely heartwarming! I loved every single moment; the room was super cozy, they set aside a private slot for the onsen, they picked me up and dropped me off at the bus stop free of charge, and helped me book a horse ride in Kaida Kogen. And the meals—made from their garden’s vegetables—were majestic; I could feel the love in every bite. Truly mesmerizing. The best host I’ve had in Japan so far. Thank you! I’ll come back in winter for the skiing season because the property is right by the slopes.
