Afro Garden Hotel

“Relaxing stay at Afro Garden.”

We stayed at this hotel in August and it was a truly relaxing holiday spot. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and helpful, making us feel very welcome. The hotel itself was peaceful and calm, and the pool was nice, clean, and well maintained. Breakfast was very good, offering a nice variety of options. Because there were not many tourists, the atmosphere felt especially peaceful and relaxing. It was a little hot at times, as expected for the season, but we didn’t experience too much rain. The location is also very good – it’s about a 15‑minute walk to a beautiful beach and close to one of the most enjoyable parts of The Gambia. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing, and enjoyable holiday. One thing to be aware of is that there were occasional electricity blackouts, which affected the fan and air conditioning; however, this is quite normal in The Gambia and was not the hotel’s fault. The staff were helpful and did their best whenever this happened.

The location was good and breakfast was okay.

Breakfast was decent, although coffee refills had to be begged for. The girls at the reception and bar in the evening we arrived had organized a blasting music party at the pool, with girls and boys who weren’t customers of the hotel. Dishes on the menu were unavailable. And when it came to paying everything was chaos. On our day of departure, one of the boys who worked at the hotel came by one of the windows of our bungalow with very loud music. No or extremely poor wifi, no card payment… No change.

“A very friendly and lovely hotel and will definitely return”

I booked this hotel for my daughter and her partner for a few days of rest and escape, and they both absolutely loved it. The staff were very friendly and they enjoyed the beautiful pool and everything it had to offer.
