“Great location, some great elements but room for improvement!”
The bed was comfortable, with fresh white sheets and large white towels, and the room offered tea and coffee in the room. The secondary sliding glazing kept road noise to a minimum. On 15/9/26 a male staff member at breakfast was very polite, seemed to be on his own, answering phones, taking orders, making coffees and serving—he’s a real credit to Fox House. He was calm and courteous. The location is great for walks; there’s a car park for patrons only, and you register your car on arrival. On arrival, two female staff saw us waiting to check in but walked past us. The rooms are in a separate building across the courtyard, so when it rained we had to dash to the inn for breakfast. Wi‑Fi timed out quickly. The room needed a deep clean: spiders, cobwebs, and dead insects were on the carpet under the raised chairs, and behind the bathroom door there were cobwebs, dead spiders, and a waste packet indicating the floor hadn’t been cleaned. We moved the chairs to watch TV, but it wasn’t good; it should have been vacuumed. The room was dusty and needed a decor update. The shower tray was badly scratched—probably from dog owners, something I’d never seen. There was no internal soundproofing, so we could hear the upstairs TV, toilet flushing, shower, and footsteps. We waited more than 45 minutes for breakfast, and the sausages and eggs were overcooked.
