A lovely room with a lake view and a patio bar right beside the water made for a great evening meal at the gastronomique restaurant, but the dim lighting in the room made it impossible to read, and both restaurants were closed on Monday with hardly any options outside.

The property’s stunning history and thoughtful restoration impressed us, yet the restaurant was shut when we arrived on Tuesday, and it was a bit annoying having to ask for the car key each time we wanted to use the car.

The view is wonderful, and the facilities in front of the lake are very good; the lakefront atmosphere with a well‑equipped bar and parasols is delightful, but the restaurant wasn’t operating.
