I liked the location, but the room was old and dirty; we even saw mice at night, which ruined everything. Paying £130 for such a place feels ridiculous, the cistern doesn’t work well, there are no towel hooks, and overall it left a lot to be desired. If you don’t want nighttime rodent encounters, don’t book here.
“Excellent location and helpful staff - recommend!”
The location in the centre is great. The staff were easy to reach, friendly, and helpful, especially Omer M., who provided excellent customer service. The only downside is that there’s no breakfast, but there are plenty of cafés nearby and the room has good tea/coffee facilities.
“Great value Oxford stay with helpful staff”
Great value stay in Oxford. Additionally, the staff were very accommodating with us when our check-in time was pushed out from our first estimate, and was able to put the key in a drop box for us to grab after-hours. The staff is able to message with WhatsApp, so make sure you have that downloaded if you need to communicate any changes or needs, etc. Floors were a bit squeaky, but this is to be expected from such an old building
The hotel is very close to the main colleges and handy shops, and the bed was comfortable while everything else worked fine. However, the headroom is only about 6 ft (1.8 m), the lowest I’ve seen, which caused a few head bumps when I wasn’t paying attention. This should be highlighted in the ads so people taller than 6 ft can make an informed choice. Also, there were very few power points.
“Cosy and quirky hotel in great location.”
Our room (The Pink Room) was cosy and comfortable and had character, as does the whole building, but people should remember that the building is very old and wonky - so the floors are not 100% level. The shared bathroom. We had a bad experience with certain others staying at the hotel and the rather appalling condition they left the bathroom. Not the owners fault but you are at the mercy of others when a shared bathroom is the only facility
