The lodge was brilliant and had everything we needed… but we were a 3 and I can’t imagine being an 8 there. Nothing else – it worked for us as a 3.

The bed was comfortable, but the key to our room didn’t work once during our four‑night stay, forcing us to keep returning to reception to reset it. I’m disabled, so this was very difficult. The room and bathroom looked tired, with mould on the tiles and a big blob of stain on the bedroom carpet.

The staff were friendly, the location was great and the surroundings were nice. The spa was excellent and the pool impressive. I would replace the restaurant roof and turn the atrium into an outdoor space; the internal room on the courtyard is a load of. There was no proper bar – it felt almost makeshift, and the restaurant was soulless and gloomy, like a student union. The meal was awful – the beef tasted like leather and the mash like window putty. I resented paying £25.00 or thereabouts for this. The rooms were outdated and the bathroom just old and mouldy. There weren’t enough people paying attention to the queues at reception.

Breakfast were nice although we came down towards the end of serving times each morning! But this wasn't a problem for the staff (even came down with a few mins before closing on the Sunday) but this wasn't an issue for the kind team who sat us down and took care of us. We really enjoyed the pool, they had maintenance as we arrived in the steam room, but was up and running the following day, which I'm glad about as this was our favourite spot!. Nothing to complain about
