Umadewi Surf & Retreat

“Umadewi is a beautiful place to stay, the staff are so warm and helpful. The ocean rooms are stunning”

The rooms are stunning and get daily cleaning. From the ocean‑view room, the sea view was magical. I’ve stayed here many times; a loyalty program would be nice.

“Old school Balinese charm with modern facilities.”

The gardens and pool area are beautiful, the restaurant is fabulous with great breakfast options and amazing views of the break, rooms are spotless, and the staff are lovely and welcoming. Nothing to complain about.

The remote location is part of the charm—perfect for a quiet getaway away from the city crowds. It ticks all the boxes: fantastic staff, good food at the restaurant and nearby, a worthwhile massage, a super clean pool, grounds, and room. If you surf, there’s a great left‑hander right off the front, though beginners might find the break a bit challenging. Kids are present, so if you’re sensitive to their noise, ear protection helps—just a heads‑up, not a deal‑breaker.

“excellent relaxed holiday”

I loved the ocean‑view villa, the restaurant, and the super friendly staff; no shopping nearby made it extra relaxing.

“A beautiful, welcoming surf retreat with exceptional service, great food and an unbeatable location.”

I’ve stayed at Umadewi twice this year and I’m sure it won’t be my last visit. The staff are truly exceptional—among the best service I’ve ever received, always professional, warm, and incredibly kind. The grounds are gorgeous, the restaurant superb, and the location right in front of Medewi’s main wave is unbeatable. A truly special place and I’m already looking forward to returning.
