We arrived at Hotel Esplanad early in the EM, staying 26‑27 Aug 2026, and parked on site. We were shown a room in the basement and had to walk down a slope; it wasn’t an annex as stated. When we asked the staff if we could go out for a break, they said we probably couldn’t, so we’d have to park 300 m from the hotel. We had to walk back, and at 83 years old with limited mobility, it was hard to walk longer distances, so we had to cancel what we had planned. Very disappointing given it was booked a long time ago. We wanted to ventilate the room, opened the window a bit, but it didn’t work. The room was warm. The outer door had a code, and inside it was taped with silver tape. The bathroom had no drainage for the toilet. There were no glasses for the toothbrushes or for rinsing the mouth after brushing. The door to the room was not fire‑safe, with large gaps around it. It wasn’t like the website. The plus refrigerator was a big let‑down for this stay. Absolutely not worth the room price. I request a partial refund. Kjell Dahlberg

Large room, good price, great kitchenette. The parking, although free, was really tight. Our bathroom was oddly configured and the wetroom was very wet, with water all over the floor.

The breakfast was great, the location was perfect and central, and the beds were just fine. The outdoor pool wasn’t warm enough to feel like a spa, the floors were slippery even with flip‑flops, and you couldn’t buy a glass of wine or champagne. The street noise was a big distraction, though there are better‑placed rooms. That’s all we got 😊
