Hotel Mathios, a family‑run boutique in Akrotiri, offers an outdoor pool with a poolside bar and a Greek‑cuisine restaurant. Air‑conditioned rooms feature satellite TV, minibars, private bathrooms, hairdryers and balconies. Free Wi‑Fi covers the property. Set among vineyards, it lies 2 km from Red Beach, 22 km from Oia, 8.5 km from Athinios Port and 12 km from Santorini Airport.

The location is very good, easily accessible by rental car to any point on the island and close to a bus stop. The family room is excellent, with a view of the pool. Daily cleaning is impeccable, with towels changed every two days. Breakfast is good but has little fresh fruit. Dinner is a solid Greek meal. A special thanks to the owner, who was extremely friendly and helped with local recommendations, including a fantastic catamaran tour.

The building was spotless and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Owner Costantino greeted us personally, a wonderful person who offered us travel suggestions and arranged excursions. We chose a transfer to the port and a boat trip to the volcano with a guide on board. Afterwards we were taken to the thermal waters for a dip, and finally we visited the island of Therasia, a spectacular spot with crystal‑clear waters. In short, a unique, stress‑free experience that went perfectly. A special thanks to Mr. Vitali, the hotel driver, who was courteous and very friendly. Everyone at Hotel Mathios is highly recommended.

The owner pretends to be very nice but is actually volatile, unreasonable and sharp. He tried to overcharge us, demanding 420 euros for something that costs 38 GBP online. He is a money‑hungry scammer who doesn’t care about guests, only their money.

The hotel is gorgeous, and the manager is excellent. Our reservation was upgraded very easily. Everything runs smoothly here, with a great team and a very peaceful, quiet environment—perfect for those who are exhausted at home. I also want to highlight the location: all the notable sites are easily reachable by public transport. Thank you, Hotel Mathios, and best wishes!
