I arrived late for check‑in, the night worker had the suite ready, but when I opened the door I nearly gagged at the bleach smell—apparently guests were kicked out the night before for smoking weed, and with the caterpillar convention there were no other suites left; I won’t return.

The location was spot‑on for me, the check‑in attendant was very helpful, and the room was a good size but showed a lot of wear and tear; the bathroom mirror needed cleaning, and the checkout attendant wouldn’t give me a printed receipt.

The front desk manager was very friendly and helpful; the hotel was full of girls’ sports teams, but all guests were quiet, tidy, and left the rooms clean. Still, the room itself was absolutely filthy—so bad we had to buy cleaning supplies at HyVee for the bathroom, countertops, and mirrors. The breakfast was ruined by the sports team before we could try it. The first room we had was uninhabitable because an ozone generator was running from a previous guest’s smoking, and the lobby and hallways were dirty and poorly maintained with chipped paint and stained carpet.
