The Schlosshotel Molkenkur, a 4-star hotel in Heidelberg, boasts a spectacular hilltop location overlooking Heidelberg Castle. Its panoramic terrace offers breathtaking views. The hotel features free internet access, on-site parking, and a breakfast buffet. Rooms include TVs, with some offering a view of the Neckar Valley. A complimentary bottle of mineral water greets guests upon arrival in their renovated rooms.

The room and bathroom were clean, the beds comfortable and the curtains blocked light well. The location was great, the mountain railway was only a few minutes’ walk and as a guest you could use it for half price. There are plenty of free parking spaces in front of the building, which is excellent in a city like Heidelberg. :) The TV reception was poor for many channels (e.g. ARD) and my room was right in front of the delivery entrance, so it was noisy in the mornings during deliveries; otherwise it’s probably quieter.

Great location and food, but no air‑conditioning and it was hard to sleep in such a warm room. The hotel should partner with the funicular train so guests can travel at a reduced rate.

The dinner on the terrace in the evening was great.

I liked the free parking and the nice view from the terrace, but the hotel is quite far out; it’s at the mountain station but the last train leaves around 8 pm, so you have to take a taxi back. The restaurant was closed when it should have been open, the bar shut at 9 pm, and breakfast was fine.
