“If something seems to good to be true.......”

Not the hotel I expected: a trip up an old lift without safety doors led to a “reception” area; the triple room was right next to the lift and entrance, feeling more like someone’s upstairs than a hotel. You could see the grand museum from the balcony only if you balanced off and craned your neck. The room was oppressive despite its size, the refrigerator was filthy and rusty, and we were supposed to stay for three nights but received dirty hand‑wash bottles and only one hand towel between us. Questionable half‑full liquid bottles lay on the floor near the toilet. We decided we couldn’t stay and checked out within an hour; the owner or receptionist seemed completely unconcerned.

The host was friendly and the room was very spacious, but the location was initially hard to find by taxi.
