The bath and breakfast were good.

The place was right across from Beppu station, surrounded by many shops and restaurants. The room was clean, spacious, and better than I expected. The public bath was nice and hot. The staff were amazing, helpful, and friendly. Breakfast was great. The only downside was the bathroom: many Japanese hotels have stepped-up bathrooms, which I had to remember in the middle of the night. The rest of the room and amenities were excellent.

The location is attached to the station. The building feels a bit dated, but overall we were very happy. The rooms are large.
