We stayed for 3 nights and it turned out to be one of the most wholesome stays I've had in Japan. Kana, the good soul of the hostel, is incredibly sweet and we chatted a lot with her. She gave us plenty of useful tips about bus routes and dinner recommendations. The hostel itself is clean, with 2 showers and 2 toilets, which was more than enough; it wasn’t crowded at all and we never had to wait to shower. Each room comes with a closet for your stuff, two big drawers and a small one that fits everything. There’s also space in the room to put clothes elsewhere without disturbing other guests. The double beds in the 4‑bed room are comfortable. If you’re very sensitive to noise, you should stay in the oropax for the night, because the old post office has thin walls and you can hear other guests and cars on the street in front of the building. But Kana is very aware of this, and everyone stays quiet after 10 pm, so we had no trouble sleeping. You can reach all the shops in Hakone by bus from the hostel, or even walk if you’re a sturdy hiker. I’d recommend it if you want to get to know Hakone. We loved it. The only minor thing was the noise, but as I said, nothing to worry about at night.

The place is very cozy, has everything you need, and is well cleaned. The extra value is priceless because of the human touch: host Kana‑san is sweet and kind, always ready to give great advice. You can see she knows Hakone inside out and loves the nature and people around her. We spent two beautiful nights here and will carry this experience in our hearts 💚
