Pousada Avalon Paranapiacaba

I really liked the location. The service is always excellent; the receptionists are consistently polite, attentive, humorous, and engaging in pleasant conversation. (This is my second visit to Avalon; I’ve also stayed once at Shambalah.) I mentioned to the staff that the room unfortunately has a strong mold smell. I know the place is very humid, but it really bothered me. Also, the soap dispenser in the female bathroom wasn’t working. Other than that, I had a great stay and will definitely return.

“Muito boa!”

Very cordial reception. The neighbors are a bit noisy, and sounds pass through the wooden walls more easily.

“Pitoresca”

The place was as simple as expected for a heritage site, but everything stayed clean. Even the external communal bathroom was always tidy, and it was easy to use at night since I woke up several times. The only gripe was that the breakfast butter should replace margarine.

“Acesso do quarto para cozinha/recepção ruins. Café bom e equipe ótima”

Breakfast was good, simple but tasty. The staff were super attentive and ready for anything. Cleanliness was excellent and the location was great, easy to reach. The downside was that the access from the room to the kitchen, reception, and bathroom was very poor; Paranapiacaba is known for its damp, rainy weather, so the place should have a better path (including floor and cover) to those areas.

I liked the rustic wood, the old feel, and the sense of being part of a historic context that has always been part of and still is part of Brazil's history. The shared outdoor bathroom, at least during rain, does not soak the corridor.
