Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan offers five natural hot‑spring baths, including a 30‑metre cave bath, in the heart of Kurokawa’s onsen district. Traditional Japanese rooms feature tatami flooring, flat‑screen TVs, seating areas, fridges and private toilets; shared bathing facilities complement the experience. Free Wi‑Fi, parking, vending machines, and a shuttle to Ogunimachi Yu Station enhance convenience, while the property lies 40 minutes from JR Aso Station.

A wonderful experience in Kurokawa Onsen. One of the best ryokans you can stay at in terms of onsens and availability. All staff are extremely helpful and kind. Provided breakfast and dinner were great - you also get laminated photos at the end as a keepsake from the ryokan

The dinner was good. The slippers were hard to walk in and I nearly slipped down the stairs.

The building feels historic and the atmosphere is superb. The only downside is the steep stairs, and it’s a pity that the family bath can only be used once.
