Hotel Aurora, Merano, sits on the historic Passer Promenade opposite the thermal baths, offering a prime riverfront setting. The 2026 renovation by Hannes Peer Architecture refreshed 18 guestrooms and all public areas, adding a Listening Bar, terrace, and modern lobby. Guests enjoy air‑conditioned rooms, minibars, private baths, shuttle to major airports, and easy access to Trauttmansdorff Gardens and Merano’s old town.

The breakfast was excellent with a huge selection of bread, cheese, sausage and jam, but the bed was small.

The staff was sometimes unfriendly and unmotivated. Food in the restaurant Arte arrived lukewarm on cold plates. Breakfast: scrambled eggs and bacon were cold on three of the four days. Our suite was partly worn out with patched furniture. The renovation or remodel mainly covered the reception (location change), redesign of the Listening Bar, a cozy corner instead of the old reception, and the construction of new rooms. The existing rooms were unfortunately not renovated. Apparently, since the reopening, new service staff, with a few exceptions, have been in charge and seemed to overwhelm us.

The location is great, right by the river, the room was large enough and very clean. The towels were already soft and changed daily. Dogs, in my opinion, should not have lost anything in the breakfast room and should stay in the room when the owners go to breakfast.

The location was superb, the room spacious with a balcony and a tidy, upscale bathroom, and booking plus parking worked smoothly even on short notice; the breakfast variety was great, offering options for gluten‑ and lactose‑intolerant guests, and the terrace was nice for evening drinks; the interior looked good, and the room was fully equipped with a TV, hair dryer, shampoo, lotion, soap, plenty of towels, etc.; however, the entire hotel felt too warm, though at least the room had air‑conditioning, and the staff seemed distracted and unenthusiastic both at reception and in the restaurant.
